God's Waiting To Tear Down Your Walls Of Jericho

Kyle Alexander - Know Not What They Do, Ft. Mali Music

What type of Walls do You Have?

There are many types of walls that people carry within their hearts and lives—walls that silently oppress and imprison. These Walls Of Jericho come in the form of fear, guilt, anger, violence, bondage, suspicion, unforgiveness, bitterness, self-pity, poverty, depression, unbelief, and hatred. Each of these creates a barrier that not only traps us emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, but also separates us from others. They hinder growth, relationships, healing, and trust. These invisible strongholds may be built up over years through trauma, sin, or cycles of brokenness, becoming nearly impossible to tear down by human strength alone.

The story of Jericho is a powerful symbol of what sin has done to this world—it has turned it into a place full of walls. Just as the city of Jericho was shut tightly, allowing no one to enter or leave, sin has locked us into a world where walls dominate lives and divide humanity. These barriers not only isolate us from people but distance us from God’s presence and purpose. Yet, just as God brought down the literal walls of Jericho through obedience and faith, He also has the power to bring down every spiritual and emotional wall we face. The fall of Jericho is a prophetic picture that no wall, no matter how high or thick, can stand in the presence of God when His people trust and obey Him.

Let God tear down your walls!

  • Living righteously according to God’s ways, rather than our own ways (Luke 11:28).

  • The Israelites were not given permission by God to simply storm the city when they were ready. They had to wait seven days. They marched, they camped, and they waited on God to move.

  • When you humble yourselves in worshipping and obeying Him God will do more for you by his power like he did for the Israelites (Read 55:8-9)

At times, our hearts can resemble the fortified city of Jericho—surrounded by towering walls of fear that keep us from experiencing the fullness of joy promised to us as God’s children. Whether it's fear of failure, being hurt, facing the unknown, or enduring hardship, these fears can cause us to shut ourselves off, blocking both the joy of the Lord from entering and from flowing outward. No human effort alone can break through these barriers. But through the love of God, revealed in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, even the most unshakable walls can collapse. His love has the power to tear down what fear has built, allowing His joy to flood our hearts—and overflow into the lives of others, helping them find freedom too.

Read, Meditate on the word of God, and pray and declare the word of God.

Here's a few ways you can declare the word of God against all walls in your life.

Scripture -- Isaiah 54:17 - No weapon formed against you shall prosper,

And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn (reject). This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.

Pray and Declare -- Through Jesus Christ I pray and declare that no weapon formed against me shall prosper or prevail. And every tongue which rises against me while I am ministering the gospel will be condemned and rejected by God through Jesus Christ. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.

Scripture -- 2 Thessalonians 3:3 - But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.

Pray and Declare -- My God is faithful. During my travels, recordings, and performances He will establish me, and guard me against the evil one.

Scripture -- Philippians 4:19 -- But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Pray and Declare -- My God will supply all of my needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Scripture -- “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Pray and Declare -- I declare that as I praise and worship you God wisdom will be in my life and the knowledge of you will be understanding to my life.

What inspired this topic?

Our article about the walls of Jericho was inspired by the powerful imagery and message found in the song and music video "Jericho Walls" by Gio. and Dell Mac. The track boldly addresses the invisible but very real walls that many face—walls of fear, guilt, unforgiveness, depression, and more. Their artistic expression paints a vivid spiritual picture of how these walls can imprison our hearts and relationships, while also pointing to God’s power to bring them crashing down just like He did in the story of Jericho. The visual storytelling and raw emotion in the video stirred us to explore these themes more deeply, leading to a reflection on how these "walls" affect our connection with God and with each other.

Their creative approach and Christ-centered lyrics carry weight and inspiration that can minister to listeners from all walks of life. Lyrics

[Chorus: Dell Mac]

And you know we destined for the win 'cause He planned it

Who can stand against Jehovah Nissi, my banner?

Marching through the city, shake the ground

The Jericho walls coming down

And you know we dancing for the win ’cause He planned it

Who can stand against Jehovah Nissi, my banner?

Marching through the city, shake the ground

The Jericho walls coming down

[Verse 1: gio.]

Who can stand against the only One who wears the crown?

I send praises up to Heaven and them blessings coming down

I done gave my life to Christ a couple times, no kidding 'round

Every time I lose my step, You never let me hit the ground

'Cause You’re strong when I'm weak, I won't ever face defeat

Drop my foes in the sea, I sit back and hold my peace

On this land, set my feet, so now it belong to me

Broke these chains, set me free, I'm right where I'm supposed to be

[Pre-Chorus: gio.]

Boy, I was born to be great

I'm steady sliding in His timing, I can't ever be late

And when those lights go dim, I'm meeting Him right up to them gates

No, I won’t ever lose faith
